Este é o meu nome, Ca Mam, escrito em chinês. Um nome chinês porque minha família é chinesa. Seu significado é Sereno Precioso. E cresci no Brasil. Sou parte ocidental e parte oriental. Ao mesmo tempo. As duas culturas vivem em mim harmonicamente. É claro que existe o choque e a contradição, como dois irmãos, e essas duas partes se completam e são a base do que eu sou. Yin e Yang. Essa é a idéia da minha marca, do símbolo que me representa. Uso a tradicional forma de assinatura dos artistas chineses — o selo chinês; com um tempero ocidental. This is my name in Chinese, Ca Mam, which means Precious Mist. I am Chinese, though I grew up in Brazil. I'm part occidental and part oriental. I live in harmony between these cultures most of the time, but sometimes there is struggle and contradiction. But like Yin and Yang, these parts complete each otherand are the foundation of what I am. I feel this symbol best represents me: I use the the Chinese artists' traditional method of signing — the chinese chop, but with an occidental touch.   O Selo Chinês O selo [ou carimbo] tem sido usado na China por muitos anos. O nome vermelho carimbado serve como uma assinatura oficial. Essa prática se deve ao fato dos caracteres chineses serem escritos por um conjunto de traços blocados (ao contrário da escrita cursiva ocidental) e mais fácil de ser copiado manualmente. Nomes esculpidos em madeira ou pedra refletem os métodos e as ferramentas únicos do escultor, e mais difíceis de imitar. O selo é bastante conhecido no Ocidente das pinturas chinesas. Os artistas usam-no como sua assinatura artística. Após a dinastia Sung tornou-se bastante comum artistas assinarem seus trabalhos manualmente e com o selo como prova de autenticidade. Uma boa pintura podia ser melhorada com o selo certo posto no lugar certo. Após ser esculpido o selo deve ser pressionado contra uma pasta de tinta vermelha e carimbado em papel antes de ser usado. A característica mais importante da tinta vermelha é seu tom e brilho. Boas tintas tem uma brilhante cor vermelha que retém sua beleza original ao longo dos anos.   The Chinese Chop The insignia of the chop has been used in China for thousands of years. The red stamp of a name chop serves as an official signature. This practice is due to the fact that Chinese characters are often written by set strokes in block style (unlike Western cursive writing) and easier to copy in written form. But names carved in wood or stone reflect the unique methods and tools of the carver, and are more difficult to imitate. The chop is most widely known throughout the Western world from Chinese print art. Painters use the chop as their artistic signature. After the Sung dynasty it became customary for artists to sign their works with both a calligraphic statement and their chop as proof of authenticity. A good painting could be enhanced by the right chop stamped in the right place. After a chop has been engraved, it must be pressed into red ink paste, then stamped onto paper before it becomes an object of practical use. The most important feature of red ink paste is its hue and luster; good ink paste has a brilliant, lustrous red color that retains its original beauty over the ages.
